FC Bayern Munich basketball players suffered a defeat in the Euroleague despite their catch-up. The game-stressed Bundesliga side lost 76:81 (31:45) to Turkish club Fenerbahce Istanbul and remain in eighth place with a record 13:13 wins.

The Munich team had already qualified for the playoffs on Friday. Augustine Rubit scored the best for Munich with 17 points. Bayern entered the game with difficulty. After six minutes, Italian coach Andrea Trinchieri’s side were 4:16 behind. At the end of the first quarter, the Munich team managed to reduce their lead to at least eleven points (16:27 / 10th minute). At the break, the deficit remained in the double-digit range, with 31:45 left in the locker room.

Bayern came out of the cabin transformed. With a brilliant 21:2 run, the guests overturned the game in five minutes and led 52:47. After 30 minutes, the Trinchieri team increased their lead to 62:54 and won the quarter 31:9. Then Fenerbahce came back. With ten points in a row, the hosts again turned things around (62:64). In a thrilling endgame, the Turks had better nerves and narrowly won the game.

Already on Wednesday (7:30 p.m. / Magentasport), the Munich team will continue in the premier category at Anadolu Efes Istanbul. Two days later, FC Bayern made an appearance at Real Madrid to wrap up the main round. (dpa)
