Started weak, then strengthened and finally faltered again briefly: ratiopharm Ulm won their home Eurocup game against Bursa 92:86.
For the 2,700 spectators at the Neu-Ulmer Arena, Wednesday was an entertaining and beautiful night of basketball that had a lot to offer. The most notable man was center Bruno Caboclo, who scored 33 points. Ulm consolidates its upward trend and celebrates its fifth consecutive victory.

In the first quarter, however, there was still little Ulmer splendor to be seen. The guests of the city of three million in Turkey went to the basket with more energy than their hosts. Ulm instead tried his luck from distance, which was at least partially successful with Brandon Paul. In the second quarter, weak rebound remained a problem. Ulm gave the Turks eleven offensive rebounds in the first half. Several hundred Turkish fans chanted loudly in the arena as Ulm’s deficit grew to ten points. But then the hosts’ play improved and provided some spectacular highlights. Yago dos Santos with a spinning motion, a twist while dribbling, while continuing to pass the ball behind the back to the free man. Or a high pass from Nunez to the incoming Caboclo, who hammered the ball through the trap in the air while being fouled at the same time. At halftime, Ulm was still six points behind (44:50).
After a ten point lead, things got exciting again
From the third quarter, the Ulm team improved significantly in rebounds. Brandon Paul hit the trio. Bruno Caboclo converted shots from close range. It was 66:66 after 30 minutes of play.
The last quarter started out as an open exchange of blows and an exciting back-and-forth. Brandon Paul had his sixth shot from long range. In the area, Ulm was able to hint again and again at Bruno Caboclo, who hit his throws with a high percentage. With one minute and 18 seconds to play, Ulm led 90-80. But those who saw the match decided did not count on the returning qualities of the Turks, who again made the match exciting with two quick threes. There are only 90:86 left. There were 38 seconds left. However, the Frutti Extra Bursaspor team didn’t reap any more extra fruit. Ulm was able to defend the lead. It was Ulm’s eighth victory in the Eurocup after five defeats.
