Former world number one Novak Djokovic is undefeated in the semi-finals of the ATP Finals. The 35-year-old Serb also prevailed against the best Russian player Daniil Medvedev 6: 3, 6: 7 (5: 7), 7: 6 (7: 2) in Turin on Friday and thus won his third game of the round preliminary.

It was already clear that Djokovic would meet American Taylor Fritz in his eleventh year-end semi-final for the season’s top eight tennis professionals on Saturday.

The 21-time Grand Slam winner is aiming to win the prestigious event for the sixth time. Last year’s runner-up Medvedev had no chance of progressing, the winner of the 2020 tournament finished this year’s ATP Finals with three losses.

In late singles, Russia’s Andrei Rublev secured the last spot in the semi-finals with a 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 win over Greece’s Stefanos Tsitsipas. In the semi-final, Rubljow will face the fourth ranked Norwegian, Casper Ruud. (dpa)
