“What’s on your mind?” This well-known saying clarifies the central role of the liver. If the organ is bad, it has negative effects on our whole body. Therefore: when you detoxify your liver, you are doing something good for yourself. The ways and means to achieve this are incredibly simple
The liver is practically the central station of our metabolism. About 2000 liters of blood circulate in this organ every day. Liver filters pathogens and toxins, excretes them through the kidneys and bile. This includes alcohol, drugs and even nicotine. Nothing works in our body without the liver.
Nature has therefore endowed the organ with robust health. The liver doesn’t even have its own pain receptors. This makes sense at first, because in view of the many pollutants treated, it would be unfavorable for our liver to hurt us all the time.
Overloaded liver: carbohydrates, fats and sugar cause problems for the organ
However: Nature could not have guessed what kind of lifestyle modern man is developing. Result: the liver becomes often overloaded with fats, carbohydrates and sugar, alcohol and nicotine – but can’t speak through the pain.
An overloaded liver therefore develops slowly. About five million Germans According to the estimates of health insurers and doctors, they suffer from hepatic steatosis or liver problems. Symptoms are for example:
- inexplicable tiredness
- irritability
- concentration problems
- itchy skin
- Yellow eye color
- Swelling between the eyebrows at the bridge of the nose
- nausea
- loss of appetite
- strong weight loss
- high blood pressure
Fatty liver as a result of poor diet
If there is pain in the upper abdomen in addition to the symptoms mentioned, this could all be a sign of a liver problem: fatty liver disease has developed. Here too, the pain does not come from the liver. Because the stressed liver has enlarged due to the accumulation of fat, but it presses on the surrounding tissues and organs. If the fatty degeneration progresses, scar tissue forms – the beginning of the well-known liver cirrhosis and liver failure.
So what can be done to relieve the organ and detoxify the liver? The good news: the organ is built so robustly that the livercan fully regenerate even if you have fatty liver. But this requires a change in lifestyle and, above all, a suitable diet. This is the point with which the liver can be detoxified and relieved even before damage occurs.
Detoxify the liver with bitter substances in vegetables
Nature has created a whole range of remedies to help the liver in its work. These include, above all different types of vegetables, fruits or herbs. For example, the bitter substances it contains stimulate the flow of bile and fat metabolism and help the liver to detoxify.

In addition to this addition to the daily menu, the liver is particularly grateful when sugar, fats and, above all, carbohydrates are reduced. Fatty Liver Disease Isn’t Caused By Fats, It’s Caused By Excessive Carbohydrate Consumption. Proteins, on the other hand, help the liver to defat. Alcohol and nicotine should be reduced or, at best, avoided completely so that the liver can detoxify.
Exercise helps the body and liver to detoxify
To function properly, the liver needs adequate exercise. That doesn’t mean you have to take your liver to Olympic level, though. Walking or cycling for half an hour a day gives the liver a boost. And if you do moderate endurance sports regularly for several weeks, you can even significantly reduce fatty liver disease in a short time. By exercising, you necessarily lose excess weight, because it also prevents the liver from doing its healthy work.
Drinking water is extremely important for health
Sufficient physical activity can therefore also be part of a liver detox. Drinking enough is the basis for boosting your metabolism. Daily between 1.5 liters and two liters of water – at best uncarbonated and filtered – or unsweetened tea should be there on a daily basis and even during a cure.
If you want to increase the amount of fluid, you can do so as part of a fasting regimen – such as interval fasting, alkaline fasting or juice fasting. In general, however, fasting should be done with care and enough information in advance so that the body is not overstretched. Be careful with fruit or fruit juice. The fructose it contains increases fat storage in the liver and causes inflammation.
Liver compress helps detoxify the liver
If you want to provide extra support for your liver during a fasting cure or other detoxification phases, it is best to use a liver wrap. the Heat stimulates blood circulation in the organ and thus promotes faster detoxification. All you need is a hot water bottle and a small to medium towel.
The guest towel is soaked in warm water and wrung out, then folded in half and placed over the liver – just below the ribs of the rib cage. The hot water bottle filled with warm water is placed on it. Then wrap the large towel tightly around you and lie on the bed or sofa for 30 minutes. Included breathe deeply and consciously also supports the liver in detoxification.
Four-week cure to regenerate the liver
If you want to detoxify your liver, you must allow at least four weeks for this. According to medical associations, this is the time an important organ needs to recover and, at best, even – depending on the condition – to regenerate.
Avoiding harmful substances such as alcohol and nicotine, liquids in sufficient quantities, vegetables, nuts and fruits such as strawberries, oranges, tangerines or bananas and herbs should also be part of the mode of life for a healthy liver afterwards. Then a drug for fatty liver disease or liver damage does not exist so far.
