In western nations, parents in the family way, host a party where gifts and blessings for their expected child are showered on them by guests. A baby shower party is usually based on various themes and numerous games are played or fun activities are indulged in during the progress of the party. Food and beverage especially baby shower cake and other food items are served to the guests. Guests encourage the hosts to open the gifts in front of them.

Some of the games that people play at baby shower parties are diaper throw game where diapers are filled with chocolates or candles, guessing the sex of the unborn child or guessing the possible date of birth, baby shower bingo, guessing the flavor of baby food for this several flavors of baby food are handed out to the guests.

They have to identify each flavor by tasting the baby food. Trying to guess the expecting mother's girth is another game that can be played at baby shower parties. Here the guests are expected to cut toilet paper, yarn or ribbon to a length which may match the expecting mother's tummy circumference towards the end of her advanced pregnancy stage.

There is another similar game that guests can try out at baby shower parties. You have to tie a string round the bloated tummy of the mother who has been visited by the stork. While tying the string if it breaks, it means that person is going to conceive next.
