Rechargeable calling cards

By Robert D. Thomson

Rechargeable calling card is a phone card to pay for phone calls. As opposed to the typical calling card, this card can be recharged after the amount of its credit is used up. These cards are particularly effective for making long distance and international calls. They are broadly used by students staying away from homes, company personnel and by the people who travel often.

Usual calling card is a disposable one, which has to be replaced by a new one after the credit amount is exhausted. Rechargeable calling cards are provided with what is called as a PIN, which is a permanent number. This PIN has to be used to make a call. Only the new balance is to be added and the same card can be used over and over again. Some of the rechargeable calling cards also offer what is called as a “pin less” feature. Here there is no need to use the PIN every time to place a call.

A smart calling card is provided which recognizes the user by the phone numbers dialed with these smart rechargeable calling cards. A certain predetermined phone numbers can be registered, which when dialed will know one to be the customer of a particular PIN. This is a aspect sole only to a rechargeable calling card. This makes telephony painless and speedy. Another effective aspect of this calling card is “Fast Dialing”.

The user can register frequently dialed phone numbers and just use a short code to call these numbers. This, once again makes it simple and speedy to communicate with people. That it not all, there is one more effective aspect that makes this card different from the customary calling cards. The total to this card can be automatically reviewed or “topped up” after it reaches a certain low balance. This means a call will never have to be postponed for getting the card recharged.

This is done by instructing the service provider and relating it to credit card or a bank account or even PayPal. Yet another aspect is that, when a call is placed with a rechargeable calling card, the amount of talk time left to the user’s credit is told by the service provider. This allows the user to design the expenditure for phone calls. Also an audible signal is given when one minute of talk time is left to balance.

Wide range of calling plans are existing for recharging the rechargeable calling cards. A calling plan can be chosen keeping in view the specific need of the user. The correct choice of the plan will allow the user to make calls at the lowest tariff. It is important to know about the call rate and any other charges (if applicable) before going for a calling card.

The cost of call depends on the kind of calling plan chosen. Once the calling card is charged, calls can be made from landlines and/or from cell phones. The phone service provider gives a toll free access number, a PIN number and a customer service number (for any assistance that one may need). In order to place a call, toll free number is dialed followed by the PIN, and then the telephone number of the the person to be contacted.
