All would certainly agree that it is the confidence and the faith that can take you places in the present times. If you are an adult you surely can't put off the importance of self esteem and the role that it plays in your life. However, your child too requires the same self esteem in him/her to grow well in life. After all no-one likes to have their kid, low on confidence. So, it is important to pay close attention to this factor from the very beginning itself. Let's take a look at some of the measures which will help you increase your child's confidence level.
To boost your child's self confidence you must stick to the golden rule of the P and the C. The 'P' here stands for praise while the 'C' represents correct. The next time your child does something wrong, try not just to nag or scold. Instead praise and then correct her. Children usually accept correction more definitely when it's coupled with a little praise. This straightforward consideration will help them with their self-esteem enormously.
Help your child build up the confidence by reaffirming that he/she is good. Everybody in his / her life has been gripped in the clutches of the inferiority complex. It is the kids who have to battle it the most. It's complicated for a child to appreciate, leave alone struggling with his / her very own incompetency complex. Only you can help your youngster surmount any such feeling or thought. For this you need to tell your youngster that he/she is equivalent to other children in all the aspects.Constant praising can help your child come out of any negative feelings. Attempt to restrict your praise as well as this might work against your youngster too.
Make your child a goal getter. Most parents teach their kids the simplest way to set goals and aims in life but they forget to teach them the paths to achieve those goals. Focus more on the plan of action than the aim itself. If your kid wishes to win a character contest in class, tell him all the possible ways he can do so. Once your youngster starts achieving his goals, the level of self esteem is sure to go a nick higher.
Make your child a part of social settings more frequently and take him out to social gatherings and parties. Although it may appear a little bothersome for you, it can have a great impact on your child's self esteem. Being a part of a social setting provides your child with a break to have interaction with others. Such interactions won't only make your kid more assured but also hone their communication skills.
Lastly, parents need to appreciate that raising the confidence levels of a child can take time so do not expect instant results. Give your kid rather more patience and attention and you are bound to be the proud parent of a confident child.
